Dear Sophia:
They were a little bit over the line towards elderly and clearly had had a good day out. They were bright and cheerful. We headed to one of the fancier Auckland neighbourhoods.
At the turnoff for their street he said “Oh do we have anything left to drink at home? She said “No, I don’t think so” He asked me “Can you let me out here? I’ll go to the store and get something for us to finish the night.”
I gently pulled over and let the gentlemen out at a very upscale alcohol store and then took the lady the rest of the way home. “Thanks” she said when we arrived.
I smiled and thanked her and went to pick up my next ride. As I got to the top of the hill I saw the gentlemen in front of the liquor store. Swigging a beer like his life depended on it. Like maybe it wasn’t for pleasure.
Love,
Lilo
